The foreigner was reported to have assaulted a physically challenged employee while hurling racists remarks against him and other junior staff. It was also confirmed that he had been warned on several occasions.
On Saturday, after the matter was reported at the Kianyaga Police Station, the German was summoned and recorded a statement. Six witnesses as well as the complainant also recorded statements in connection with the said assault.
Yesterday, Mr Mutinda said following the incident, all foreigners working at the dam site will be closely monitored to ensure such misconduct does not recur.
Mwea MP Kabinga Wachira on Sunday expressed regret at such incidents.
“While we appreciate the expertise provided by the foreigners, such expatriates should realise that even our country has professionals with expertise that could be exported elsewhere,” Mr Wachira said. Yugen who has since been arrested by officer from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, reportedly referred to Kenyan workers as "bushmen" and "idiots".
Yugen was arrested by detectives and grilled over racial abuse.
In police statements, the labourers recounted several incidences where the 47-year-old had to sack those who dared speak out against his racial tendencies.
“Our manager Yugen is a violent person canning even aged workers. Today he threatened to beat me and after I tried pleading with him to forgive me, he got mad and threw a metallic door at me. I had to shout for help,” one of the local workers said.
Unconfirmed report indicated Yugen had been flown from Malawi where he faced similar accusations that saw him get banished from the country.
Before coming to Kenya, Mr Jurgen, was in March 2017 deported from Malawi.
In Malawi, Mr Jurgen is said to have referred to a driver by named Mr Charles Devina as a “monkey”, an incident which led to his deportation.
