How A Brave Matatu Driver Saved Lives Of Passengers From Al Shabaab Attack

A matatu driver in Mandera South this week saved the lives of eight people after his brave act helped them escape from the hands of suspected terrorists.
Reports indicate that he was driving along the Elwak-Borehole 11 road on Wednesday when around 10 people waved him to stop.
Suspecting that something was amiss, the driver sped off and the suspected Al-Shabaab militants fired at the matatu, deflating a tyre in the process.
Mandera County Commissioner Onesmus Kyatha confirmed the incident saying no one was injured.
“A vehicle ferrying construction workers from Borehole 11 was last evening targeted by suspected Al-Shabaab militants but their driver saved them,” he said.
The vehicle had been hired by a construction company that is building a health centre in the area to ferry workers to Elwak town.
Kyatha believes the attack was meant to target the non-locals who were in the matatu.
“The driver is a local but most of the passengers were non-locals whom we believe were the target.
"The attackers shot at the vehicle but no one was injured,” he said.

6 Diseases Thar Can Be Transmitted Through Kissing

Although kissing brings many benefits for our health and emotional pleasure, it can also
be a way for the transmission of viruses and bacteria that cause
diseases.
Bacteria and viruses that are present in the saliva or blood of one
person can be transmitted to another through a kiss. Below are some of
the diseases that can be transmitted through kissing
1. Colds
Colds are spread by direct contact with the virus. By kissing an
infected person we get in direct contact with the secretions of his
nose and throat.
2. Kiss Disease
Also known as glandular fever or infectious mononucleosis, it is
caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. The virus is transmitted through
saliva and infection occurs through contact.
3. Cold Sores
Also caused by a virus, it can be transmitted through direct contact
with the virus. Herpes is more easily transmitted when blisters are
forming.
4. Hepatitis B
Infection can occur when the infected blood and saliva of the infected
person come into direct contact with the blood or mucous membranes of
another person, for example if the person has open sores in or around
the mouth.
5. Meningococcal Disease
This is a life-threatening disease, and is due to inflammation of the
membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord. The bacterium that
causes this disease is spread by direct contact or droplets of saliva.
It is a very rare form of transmission.
6. Dental Caries
Did you know that the mouths of newborn babies lack the bacteria that
cause tooth decay? Kissing babies on the lips causes these bacteria to
spread to their mouths.
Even though there are some diseases that can be transmitted through
kissing, remember that there is no need to give up kissing for the
sake of health.
Most kisses do not cause any disease and the risk of serious illness is very small.
Tips to Avoid or Reduce Infections Through Kissing
* Avoid kissing or being kissed when one of the two people is sick.
* Avoid kissing someone on the lips when there is an active mouth,
warts or ulcers around the lips or in the mouth.
* Maintain good oral hygiene.
* Coughing and sneezing in a handkerchief

“All through, we were making arrangements to have Okoth transported to Kabondo Kasipul and be rested on his mother’s land. We did not know that Monica had other plans,” Oluoch said.
He further denied knowledge of Ken Okoth’s paternal family.
“Why should we bury the banana stem in Rangwe? They have never been there for us. “We only heard about them on media,” Oluoch angrily stated.

DNA Results: Kakamega Twins, Sharon & Melon Are Identical Twins

Sharon Mathias (left) and Melon Lutenyo, both 19, reunite at Furfural village in Kakamega on April 16, 2019. DNA tests have revealed that they are twins.

Sharon Mathias and Melon Lutenyo are biological twins, DNA tests conducted by Lancet Kenya have revealed.
The tests released on Saturday showed that Sharon and Melon shared identical DNA profiles, with 23 allelic loci tested showing 100 per cent perfect match which is consistent with the two being biologically identical twins.
The report said that Rosemary Khaveleli Onyango could not be excluded as the biological mother of the twins who have compatible obligatory maternal allelic profile with a 99.999 per cent probability.
BIOLOGICAL MOTHER
The report also excluded Ms Onyango from being the biological mother of Mevis Mbaya with 12 out of 23 loci tested showing a mismatch. (Three or more mismatches are considered grounds of exclusion of paternity) the report stated.
The tests also showed that Melvis Mbaya exhibited a compatible obligatory maternal and paternal allelic profile with those of Ms Angeline Omina and Mr Wilson Lutah Maruti respectively.
The report released by Dr Ahmed Kalebi, CEO Lancet Group of Laboratories also showed that the probability of Melvis being Ms Omina's daughter was 99.999 per cent.
Sharon and Melon met in April 2018 on social media. At first, the mistook each other for online identity frauds.
FACEBOOK
While browsing, Sharon came across a Facebook suggestion of ‘people you may know’ it was there that she noticed a profile that looked like hers. She sent Melon a ‘friend request’.
No sooner had Melon ‘accepted’, the request, the two started engaging in a war of words with each of them questioning the authenticity of the other’s online profile.
They were both suspicious of their striking resemblance but after the online altercation they chose to cut off their communication.
The two finally met in December 2018 at a bus stop in Kakamega town.
This was prompted by constant mention by their teachers and schoolmates about their resemblance. Sharon had participated in a high school music festival where the Melon’s school had also participated.
PUZZLED
Sharon’s teachers and classmates were puzzled when they saw someone that resembled Melon at the festival even though she was not participating. Melon’s classmates took a photo of Melon which they later showed to Sharon. Out of curiosity, the twins contacted each other during school holidays.
Soon, their communication became frequent to the extent that they introduced each other to their parents.
In April 2019, both families resorted to solve the mystery by seeking professional help. Lancet Kenya then offered to carry out a DNA test at subsidised cost.
KAKAMEGA HOSPITAL
Their mother, Ms Onyango is said to have gone to Kakamega Hospital while pregnant on August 15, 1999. She expected to deliver triplets but when she regained consciousness after delivery through a caesarean section, she was informed that she had given birth to twins.
The twins were placed in an incubator for a week due to low birth weight. She said that had been in doubt since her twin daughters Melon and Melvin did not turn out identical.
Ms Omina, who has just been confirmed not to be Sharon’s biological mother, said that she gave birth on August 14, 1999 just a day before Ms Onyango had her delivery.

The judge ruled that the newspaper enjoyed profit from the obituary and awarded Wanjigi Sh4 million and his wife an equal amount for causing her anguish and pain. "Nation owed a duty of care to make sure that it published accurate and fair information.

They carried the obituary hence gained monetary benefit from it,” the judge ruled.
